VVV Ameland wanted to revamp their digital presence to seamlessly align with the unique guest journey of their target audiences.
Together, we developed a new mobile-first platform featuring a webshop, online portal, booking center, and integration with the marketing automation software ActiveCampaign. Now, visitors are fully supported before, during, and after their trip.

About VVV Ameland
Welcome to Ameland, the adventurous Wadden island where every day is different. Step onto the ferry in the early morning mist and leave everything behind. Once you arrive, you can enjoy the refreshing breeze, sunbathe, bike, and indulge… What a punishment to make visits to Ameland!
With the challenge of providing guests with relevant content before, during, and after their stay, we have created a platform that supports and enriches the entire guest journey.
A powerful Progressive Web App
With the majority of visitors coming from mobile devices, the new VVV Ameland website had to be mobile-first. That's why we designed a Progressive Web App (PWA) that is responsive and utilizes mobile functionalities. Visitors can get started right away without installing anything—just open the website and take advantage of handy tools like a QR scanner for walking and biking routes, GPS for location-based content, a tide table, live webcams, and digital coupons.
Offline use with the native app
To ensure visibility in app stores and make the app usable offline, we built an additional layer over the PWA: a Native App. This can be downloaded from the stores and offers the same functionalities, but also works without an internet connection. And the best part? The content is centrally managed, ensuring that the web app and native app are always in sync.

AI content assistant
AI as an extension of your marketing team
Together with the marketing team of VVV Ameland, we are developing an AI Content Assistant that makes content creation faster and more effective. Trained on everything that makes Ameland unique – from island knowledge to target audience insights and the recognizable tone of voice – this AI generates inspiring texts with the right message at the right moment.
And we're taking it a step further: fully formatted pages in MODX. Choose a template, and the system automatically fills in the right content blocks with AI-generated texts. Smart, efficient, and always on-brand.

The Ameland experience starts before you even arrive! With the social walls, you can explore the island through the eyes of other visitors. Share your experiences using the right hashtags, and maybe your photo will appear on the website.
Ready to get out there? The activities calendar gives you a quick overview of what's happening. With smart filters and routes, you can effortlessly plan your perfect day on Ameland.
Central booking database
All accommodations and activities from VVV Ameland are managed in the central booking database of Travelbase. Prices, availability, and reviews are automatically synchronized, allowing VVV Ameland to enter data only once. This data is immediately forwarded to partner connections and the website, ensuring visitors always receive reliable and up-to-date information.

Just like your booking information
Whether you have questions about your booking or need extra information, VVV Ameland has assistance available close by. Through email, chat, phone, or a visit to the office, you'll receive the service you need quickly. Is the chat temporarily offline? Then the option automatically disappears from the navigation, so you always know what to expect.
Additionally, VVV Ameland offers a unique online portal where you always have access to your booking confirmation, payment details, and stay information. After your stay, you can easily leave a review here. Everything's organized, all in one place!

With ActiveCampaign, VVV Ameland automates forms, chat management, and newsletters, while the CRM system stores contact data for targeted personalization. Thanks to the integration with MODX, forms are placed directly in the right design. This way, each guest receives relevant information at the right time – from booking to review request – for an optimal Ameland experience.
