How do you cater to three distinct target groups in multiple languages on a single website without compromising user experience or SEO? It may seem impossible, but that's exactly what we accomplished for Lifelines. By creating tailored environments with personalized content in each group's native language, we ensured the right audience could find the right information quickly and easily.

The new Lifelines platform:

Lifelines for a healthier future

Lifelines: Collecting, managing, and sharing for a healthier future.

Lifelines is the Netherlands' largest data and biobank, housing health data from over 167,000 participants in the Northern Netherlands. Their mission? To gain insights into disease development and prevention, ultimately discovering how we can live longer, healthier lives.

This vast pool of health data is invaluable for policymakers creating health policies and researchers conducting scientific studies. Participants benefit too, gaining valuable insights into their own health. Our challenge was to unite all these groups on a single website.

We designed four unique worlds: a corporate website for Lifelines and a tailored interface for each specific target group. Each interface is presented in the appropriate language, with content carefully aligned to what the audience is searching for and how they're searching for it.

Lifelines already has 167,000 participants—10% of the Northern Netherlands population! To continue collecting valuable data and advancing research, they need to recruit new participants and retain current ones. In the participant portal, you'll immediately see the participant journey, get answers to common questions, and review results from Lifelines' numerous studies. Still have questions? The researchers’ world for sharing data.

While most audiences communicate in Dutch, researchers worldwide use English. To best meet researchers' needs, we used the MBTI model and found they're competitive visitors—they move quickly, are driven by facts, and search with purpose. Once they find what they need, they're willing to delve deep. With summaries, quotes, and hard facts, www.lifelines-biobank.com is designed to engage researchers, encouraging them to use Lifelines data, request biosamples, and initiate their own research.

All these interfaces are managed by Lifelines in one central place: MODX! Here, they can build unlimited pages without being restricted by predefined templates. Using layouts and content blocks, they can create pages exactly as they envision them.
